What you will learn in Revisit Germany –
the Ancestry Trip Planning Online Course:

Before you complete this course:

1. You want to travel to Germany on an ancestry-inspired trip, but since there are so many different options on what to do, how to get around and where to stay, you feel overwhelmed. Because of this, you don’t know where to start and postpone or (worst case scenario) even cancel your trip to Germany.
2. You know that your ancestors were from Germany, but you don’t know much about their lives back in the home country. You are wondering: How do I plan a visit to my ancestral German hometown(s)? Who can I meet to find out more about my German ancestors? And can I re-create their emigration experience?
3. You do not have the time for planning an in-depth itinerary for your Germany trip or simply run out of time before you depart for Germany, which causes "last minute stressing out".

After you've completed this course:

1. In the 8 modules of the course, you followed a proven step-by-step guide of how to plan your trip. By dividing all the important decisions into manageable portions, you got one thing done at a time. Afterwards, you have peace of mind that you did not forget anything important.
2. By working through module 5, you gained a lot of background information on how historical events formed the culture and traditions in modern-day Germany, which you will experience on your trip. Now you feel well-prepared and can make the most of the (ancestry-inspired) experiences on your trip.
3. By joining our online course, you took a shortcut that saved you a ton of time googling to find all important information yourself. Now, you have more time and peace of mind to look forward to walking in your ancestors' footsteps.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is joining the waiting list free?

Yes, joining our waiting list is 100 % payment-free, non-binding and with no obligation to buy the course later on.

Is there any advantage of joining the waiting list?

Yes, there are several benefits! If you decide to buy the course, you will receive a special bonus only available to those that were on the waiting list. Also, once the registration for the next course opens, you will be among the first to get notified via email. So you can make sure not to miss the launch date of the next online course.

Is this course for Americans only?

The course has been designed primarily for US-Americans who have German ancestors. However, you can also take it if you are from another part of the world (for example Canada or Australia) and plan a trip to Germany to learn more about your German ancestors.

Can I get a refund if I am not happy with the course?

Yes, you can! We offer a voluntary 14-day money back guarantee. Just let us know by writing an email to support@myancestorsjourney.com and we will fully refund you.

How long is the course duration?

Once the course opens, the official running time is 5 weeks (in line with the 5 weekly Q&A live coachings via Zoom during this time period). However, you will have access to all course contents for 12 months , so you can complete all modules in your own time.

Can I purchase now and start later?

Yes, you can purchase the course once registration opens and complete it whenever you like within a 12-month period. You will have access to the course for 12 months and have the possibility to exend it even further for an additional fee if you need more time. Please note though that the weekly live calls with Sonja are only offered at certain times a year when the course opens its doors again for another round of course participants. There are around 2-4 course openings per year.

Will I learn about genealogy research in this course?

For the most part, no. Please note that this course is about ancestry-inspired trip planning only. We will cover how you can plan a visit to your ancestral German hometown(s) and find (hobby) genealogists, regional historians or specialized tour guides who can meet you on your trip and possibly help with ancestry research. But we will not cover any genealogy or ancestry research questions related to specific documents, complex ancestry research “brick wall” issues, old German handwriting or anything similar.

Is this course suitable for all skill levels or do I need to have done in-depth ancestry research before?

Generally speaking, the course is open to all skill levels and you technically do not need to have done any ancestry research beforehand. Some people just know that their ancestors were from Germany and want to travel to Germany just to experience being in the country themselves.

But, if you do plan to visit your ancestral hometown(s) and other places where your ancestors have been or where you can learn more about their lives, we do recommend that you have done some basic ancestry research beforehand. More on that in the next question.

When do the live calls take place?

During the 5 weeks course time period (November 18 to December 16, 2026), there will be 1 live call per week (around 60 minutes), which usually takes place on a Wednesday at 7 pm German time (which is 1 pm Eastern Standard Time US and Canada). If there are any Australian or other course participants for which this time zone does not work, there will be additional call times. Otherwise, each call will be recorded and is available to watch on demand.

How long will I have access to the course?

Once you bought the course, you will have access to it for 12 months.

If I want more support after a year, can I renew?

Yes, there will be a possibility to extend the time period that you will have access to the course for an extra charge. More on that once the course begins.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes, you can! You can choose to either pay the course amount in one single payment, in 3 monthly payments over 3 months or in 6 monthly payments over 6 months.

Is my payment secure?

Absolutely. For the payment processing, we partnered up with MyAblefy – a trusted and specialized payment partner for digital products from Berlin, Germany.

Can I also join this course if I have already booked the Ancestral Germany Hometown Package (travel consultation)?

Yes, you absolutely can! In the course and our regular live calls, we will go into much more detail to prepare your visit to Germany and go very deep into topics like learning about German history, cultural nuances and even the German language!

So this will prepare you even better for the experiences you will have on your trip to Germany. Even if your itinerary is already set because you booked the 1:1 Ancestral Hometown Package consultation.

How and where can I ask individual questions about planning my trip?

During the initial 5 weeks of your online course, there will be weekly live calls with Ancestry Travel Tour Guide and German native Sonja Irani. While you have access to the course (12 months), there will be further live calls with Sonja when another round of course participants start their 5 weeks. If you can't make it to the live call, you can watch the recording afterwards. You will also have the option to ask specific questions in our closed community group.

Especially the group and the live calls are a great way to connect to other ancestral travelers that are planning a trip to Germany. So you can benefit from commonly asked questions as well as exchanging ideas and inspiration for planning your own, individual trip to Germany.
